The largest spider in the world

By-  Vinuri Randhulla Silva, The  Goliath birdeater  ( Theraphosa blondi ) belongs to the  tarantula  family  Theraphosidae . Found in northern  South America , it is the largest  spider  in the world by mass (175 g (6.2 oz)) and body length (up to 13 cm (5.1 in), and second to the  giant huntsman spider  by leg span.  It is also called the  Goliath tarantula  or  Goliath bird-eating spider ; the practice of calling theraphosids "bird-eating" derives from an early 18th-century copper engraving by  Maria Sibylla Merian  that shows one  eating a hummingbird . Despite the spider's name, it rarely preys on birds . These spiders can have a leg span up to 30 cm (12 in),  a body length of up to 13 cm (5.1 in) and can weigh up to 175 g (6.2 oz). Bird eaters are one of the few tarantula species that lack tibial spurs, located on the first pair of legs of most adult males. They are mostly tan to light brown and golden-hued. Unlike other species of spider/tarantula, females do

Vulturine guinea fowl

By Vinuri Randhula Silva, The  vulturine guinea fowl  ( Acryllium vulturinum ) is the largest extant  species  of  guinea fowl . Systematically, it is only distantly related to other guinea fowl genera. Its closest living relative, the  white breasted guinea fowl ,  Agelastes meleagrides  inhabit primary forests in Central Africa. It is a member of the  bird  family  Numididae , and is the only member of the genus  Acryllium . It is a resident breeder in northeast  Africa , from southern  Ethiopia  through  Kenya  and just into northern  Tanzania . The vulturine guinea fowl is a large (61–71 centimetres (24–28 in)) bird with a round body and small head. It has a longer wings, neck, legs and tail than other guinea fowl. The adult has a bare blue face and black neck, and although all other guinea fowl have unfeathered heads, this species looks particularly like a  vulture  because of the long bare neck and head. The slim neck projects from a cape of long, glossy, blue and white hackl

Crested pigeon

By – Vinuri Randhula Silva, The  crested pigeon  ( Ocyphaps lophotes ) is a  bird  found widely throughout mainland  Australia  except for the far northern  tropical  areas. Only two Australian pigeon species possess an erect crest, the crested pigeon and the  spinifex pigeon . The crested pigeon is the larger of the two species. The crested pigeon is sometimes referred to as a  topknot pigeon , a common name shared with the reddish crested  Lopholaimus antarcticus  of Eastern Australia. The length of the crested pigeon varies from 30 to 34 cm (12 to 13.6 in). Colouration is grey with tinges of brown and green. It has a feathered but slender, black spike on top of the head. It runs with the crest erect. The periorbital skin is bright orange. Wings have black stripes and are bronzed, while the primary feathers have colorful areas of brown, purple, blue, and green.  Immature  birds have duller colors with no bronzing on the wings. The birds can be normally seen in two sizes, they can

Black-naped pheasant-pigeon sighted in PNG for first time in 140 years

By Tiffanie Turnbull BBC News, Sydney, Edited by- Vinuri Randhula Silva, IMAGE SOURCE, AMERICAN BIRD CONSERVANCY Image caption, The bird hadn't been sighted since 1882 Some 140 years after the black-naped pheasant-pigeon was last sighted by scientists, researchers have "rediscovered" the rare bird. After a month of searching, a team in September captured footage of the species deep in the forest of a tiny island off Papua New Guinea. It was a mammoth effort that involved countless interviews with locals, 20 camera traps and a run-in with pirates. It felt like "finding a unicorn", said expedition co-lead John Mittermeier. Researchers hope the discovery will help save the species from extinction. Members of the team had attempted to find the large, ground-dwelling pigeon before. Three searched Fergusson Island - its only habitat - in 2019 but didn't find any trace of the bird. The 2022 expedition appeared to be going similarly, until the team reached village

Naked Chicken

From Wikipedia, By- Vinuri Randhula  Silva, The  Naked Neck  is a breed of  chicken  that is naturally devoid of feathers on its neck and vent. The breed is also called the  Transylvanian  Naked Neck , as well as the  Turken . The name "Turken" arose from the mistaken idea that the bird was a  hybrid  of a chicken and the  domestic turkey . Naked Necks are fairly common in  Europe  today, but are rare in  North America  and very common in  South America . The trait for a naked neck is a  dominant  one controlled by one  gene  and is fairly easy to introduce into other breeds,  however these are hybrids rather than true Naked Necks, which is a breed recognized by the  American Poultry Association  since 1965, it was introduced in  Britain  in the 1920s. There are other breeds of naked necked chicken, such as the French naked neck, which is often confused with the Transylvanian, and the naked necked game fowl. The origins of the Naked Neck chicken are unclear. A common theor

Colorful Indian bullfrog

From – Wikipedia and Earth Unreal, Edited by –Vinuri Randhula Silva, Indian bullfrog (Hoplobatrachus tigerinus )  is a large species of  frog  found in  South  and  Southeast Asia . A relatively large  frog , it is normally green in color, although  physiological  traits vary between populations.  Sexual dimorphism  exists between males and females. Outside of its native range, Indian  bullfrog is a rapid-spreading  invasive species . Both adults and  tadpoles  can do severe damage to the populations of other frog species. Typically, Indian bullfrogs dwell in  wetland  environments. Research has been conducted on their ability to control  mosquitos . The Indian bullfrog is a large species of frog. They can grow to be 170 millimetres (6.7 in), with heads generally longer than they are wide, although older individuals tend to have wider heads. Normally green or brown with dark spots, males turn yellow during the breeding season. They tend to have a yellow streak along the spinal region
